I think I am addicted!

I have been collecting supplies for making bows since I made my first ones. Finally on Sunday morning I sat down and made a couple. I wanted Kaylee to have one to match her dress for church in our new ward, so I made her one:

Then I made her another for another of her Sunday dresses:

Actually, I could have sat there ALL DAY making bows!

It is SO fun and easy! That evening I made her a bow board so I have somewhere to store them all:

That was not as easy, but still fun and I only seriously burnt myself with the glue gun once.....ok twice.

I am still collecting some of the supplies I need, and trying to find instructions to make different styles of bows. When I have all that, I think I am going to have to get Kaylee more dresses to go with all her pretty bows!

LETTERS

I worked on the letters for Kaylee's room last night, but wasn't intending to finish them! What can I say, I get bored when Robert goes to Wyoming all week! Here are the results! I really can't wait to get the "L"

I was/am planning to have the letters with pink sides go every other one with the ones with red sides, but I really like the look of the red sides. I think I may end up painting them all red on the sides.I hand drew and painted the decorations on the letters. It took me around 4 hours! I am not sure if I am going to put more on each letter....I don't want them to look too busy. All of these decorations come from the ones on the bedding I have.

Ok, this one is not on the bedding, but each flower individually is!

This one is my favorites
I am so proud of myself for doing these! Oh, and YAY for only 115 days left of pregnancy!!

Crafty Me!!

I have wanted for a couple weeks to try sewing some cloth wipes to go along with my cloth diapers! Its a good thing too, because I could probably make about 8-9 with $6 worth of fabric! If I were just buying the wipes, it would cost me around $15 for 10 of them! I am making some flannel ones first, and will maybe try some different materials sometime. I got the instructions on The Cloth Diaper Whisperer blog. It is such a wonderful place for all things cloth diapering!

Now, I have sewn a tiny bit before....a long while ago, but have never started from an empty sewing machine. That's what I had, so I went to the store and bought the stuff I would need to make a few wipes (trial runs). I just got a yard of fabric, the thread, and the cutting board. Then I got out the instruction book for my sewing machine, and slowly wound the bobbin, and threaded the machine.

Cutting out the stupid little squares of material was the hardest part of the whole thing!! I don't know if I was doing it the hard way (is there an easy way?) but the measuring and cutting was torture. After my first wipe was done, I felt so incredibly empowered! Lol, that sounds crazy. But I didn't break my machine, and didn't ruin the wipe. So I made two more. Here are the finished results!

The first, smaller one-sorry this picture is a little fuzzy

All three of the different thread combinations

These each have the opposite colored thread on the other side

The two bigger wipes 7"x7"

As for my next craft project......
The materials

No, I did not forget how to spell Kaylee, the store was out of "L" so I am going back next week to get it.

They are raised letters, that actually look a lot bigger in these pictures than they really are!

I haven't decided how exactly I am going to paint them, but these colors match (pretty closely) the ones on the nursery bedding.

I may need some more colors once I decide how to paint the letters.
Some other projects I want to do sometime are:
Cloth Diaper Inserts (with super absorbent stuff in the middle-)
More Cloth Wipes/burp cloths
Actual Cloth Diapers (eventually)
I am sure this list will get longer, the more comfortable I get but for now it is enough!

A New Friend!

I am finally taking advantage of a wonderful gift that Robert and I got for our wedding two whole years ago! My Grandma, and a couple of my Aunts gave me a nice sewing machine. Sadly I have never used it! Now I not only have a portion of a room to turn into a sewing room, but I have at least one thing I want to sew! Here are some pictures of my machine:

My own little sewing space.....amongst all the X-Box things

It even came with this little bag of "things" (can you tell I have no clue about sewing machines?)

Lol, this is going to be fun to decipher!
As for the things I am going to sew......The cost of cloth diapers is much lower than disposables, but it is still not free! So I have decided that I am going to make my own cloth wipes. Once I am comfortable with that, I may even try to make a diaper or two! I would really love to have a lot of wipes, but don't want to be spending over a dollar per wipe! The terry cloth ones I would really like, are almost $2 for each wipe! I have not actually gone to the store to look at cloth prices, but I am pretty sure if I shop around and look for sales I will be saving money. I would also like to be able to make things like burping cloths, nursing covers, and maybe someday clothes!
