Independence Day

The 4th of July! Always a favorite holiday, especially with little children. Fireworks, even the tiny ones, are AMAZING!

This year, we went to sit close to the big stadium where the fireworks are shot off in a local city. We got there pretty early, had pizza, talked, did small fireworks, and eventually got to see the big display once it got dark.

Courtney was fascinated by the fireworks

Every time one would go off, she would get on hands and knees/feet and spin in circles:

The girls walked circles around this post for quite a while laughing their heads off

then they would take breaks to watch the next firework fountain.

Cousin Camping

This summer we had a wonderful visit from my sister, her husband, and their daughter Evelyn. Evie is Kaylee’s one and only cousin, and they live 16 hours apart so they only see each other once or twice a year. My sister and her family came down for the 4th of July, and we decided to go on a very short camping trip.

The girls had a wonderful time! They mostly played with ponies and explored in the trees, even adding in a bit of pretend “hiding from someone”.

We only had one scary incident where Kaylee led Evie down to the lake unsupervised, and scared the daylights out of everyone!

The lake was FREEZING, but we swam anyways….and I realized that I can not swim in cold water.

I loved our little trip together, and cant wait for more little cousins so we can expand these trips into sibling/cousin “reunions”.

Independence Day!

We were all together with my side of the family this year for the 4th of July! Usually we spend the holiday with Robert’s family because his brother and sister were born on the 4th.

After camping, we all headed to the Thanksgiving Point dinosaur museum which was amazing! The girls had a great time exploring and learning things about dinosaurs and other science concepts.

Kaylee’s favorite part was the huge sand and water table they have for all the kids to play in with little dinosaur figurines. I think she could have stayed there the rest of the day. So much concentration and focus!

Kaylee enjoyed the fireworks even though they stressed her out a little sometimes.

I can’t wait for next year! Kaylee will be old enough to let her stay up late and watch the big fireworks for the first time!
