100th Post!!
Hobbs and I went to Babies R Us today to socialize and it was the best thing ever! I hadn't really thought about the different kinds of things that went along with babies and small children. Things like, strollers, high chairs, the bounce seats (Hobbs was especially facinated by these), swinging chairs, and noisy toys are all things that a guide would have to deal with .
I am planning to make arangements to have one of our next meetings (the puppy group) there so that everyone can use the socialization opportunity.
I also ran into Calliope's first raiser today! I was at petsmart socializing and she was there with the humane society. She told me she had raised a couple dogs and I asked who they were and she said Calliope! It was great to finally meet her and tell her in person how impressed I was with Calliope.

Geocaching
I looked through and don't think I have mentioned Geocaching on this blog. I have been looking into getting a small GPS so that I can do some Geocaching. It will be fun I think and I have already found several (on the map that is) that I want to see if I can find. Only thing is that it is COLD here! But come spring (or the slightest hint thereof) Hobbs and I will be out hiking to the Caches!

Calliope is 3 years old today! I can't believe it has only been a year since she graduated! So much has happened in that short time! I haven't hear from her partner in quite some time, but I am sure they are still very happy together. I am sending a letter to them soon, but I haven't decided if I am going to send a gift or not. Finally Pictures
As promised, here are some good pictures of Hobbs. We went out to go find our first Geocache (sp?) but when we got to the place it was sooooo cold that we only lasted about 100 feet before heading back home....where I swear it is about 5 degrees warmer. Enjoy the pics of my handsome boy! Again all of these look better enlarged.
The geocache was supposed to be somewhere by this dog park, so we snuck in for a quick picture. Don't panic! There wasn't anyone there! There are just like a million great photo spots in there!
This would have been an superb picture but Hobbs both stood up and looked away as I pushed the button. The reason? A person with their dogs were walking up to the gate. Therefore we didn't get a re-take because we were running for the opposite gate!
Lol, I must have take 20 pictures at this bridge and this was the only one with him looking at me. I even taught him look for the purpose of taking pictures!!!
I think he kind of looks like a giraffe in this one. Does his neck look too long to anyone else?

A Great Man Has Died Tonight

SALT LAKE CITY 27 January 2008 President Gordon B. Hinckley, who led The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints through twelve years of global expansion, has died at the age of 97.President Hinckley was the 15th president in the 177-year history of the Church and had served as its president since 12 March 1995.
The Church president died at his apartment in downtown Salt Lake City at 7:00 p.m. Sunday night from cause’s incident to age. Member of his family were at his bedside. A successor is not expected to be formally chosen by the Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles until after President Hinckley’s funeral within the next few days.
President Hinckley was known, even at the age of 95, as a tireless leader who always put in a full day at the office and traveled extensively around the world to mix with Church members, now numbering nearly 13 million in 171 nations.
His quick wit and humor, combined with an eloquent style at the pulpit, made him one of the most loved of modern Church leaders. A profoundly spiritual man, he had a great fondness for history and often peppered his sermons with stories from the Church’s pioneer past.He was a popular interview subject with journalists, appearing on 60 Minutes with Mike Wallace and on CNN’s Larry King Live, as well as being quoted and featured in hundreds of newspapers and magazines over the years. During the Salt Lake Olympics of 2002, his request that the Church refrain from proselytizing visitors was credited by media with generating much of the goodwill that flowed to the Church from the international event.
In recent years, a number of major developments in the Church reflected President Hinckley’s personal drive and direction. In calling for 100 temples to be in operation before the end of the year 2000, the Church president committed the Church to a massive temple-building program.In 1999 — 169 years after the Church was organized by its founder, Joseph Smith — the Church had 56 operating temples. Three years later that number had doubled, largely because of a smaller, highly practical temple architectural plan that delivered these sacred buildings to Church members in far-flung parts of the world. Many more Church members can now experience the sacred ceremonies that occur only in temples, including marriages for eternity and the sealing of families in eternal units.
President Hinckley was the most traveled president in the Church’s history. His duties took him around the world many times to meet with Latter-day Saints in more than 60 countries. He was the first Church president to travel to Spain, where in 1996 he broke ground for a temple in Madrid; and to the African nations of Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Zimbabwe and Cape Verde, where he met with thousands of Latter-day Saints in 1998. In 2005, he traveled nearly 25,000 miles on a seven-nation, nine-day tour to Russia, South Korea, China, Taiwan, India, Kenya, and Nigeria.
At a general conference of Church members in April 2001, President Hinckley initiated the Perpetual Education Fund — an ambitious program to help young members of the Church (mainly returning missionaries from developing countries) receive higher education and work-related training that they would otherwise likely never receive.
Closer to his Salt Lake City home, President Hinckley announced the construction of a new Conference Center in 1996 and dedicated it four years later. Seating 21,000 people, it is believed to be the largest religious and theater auditorium in the world and has become the hub for the Church’s general conference messages to the world, broadcast in 54 languages.Even before his term as president, President Hinckley’s extensive Church service included 14 years as a counselor in the First Presidency, the highest presiding body in the government of the Church, and 20 years before that as a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles.President Hinckley was born 23 June 1910 in Salt Lake City, a son of Bryant Stringham and Ada Bitner Hinckley. The Gordon B. Hinckley Endowment for British Studies, a program focused on the arts, literature and history of the United Kingdom, was established at the University of Utah.
President Hinckley was awarded the Silver Buffalo Award by the Boy Scouts of America; was honored by the National Conference for Community and Justice (formerly the National Conference of Christians and Jews) for his contributions to tolerance and understanding in the world; and received the Distinguished Service Award from the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. In 2004, President Hinckley was also awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President George W. Bush in the White House.

Its been a while
I have been bad about keeping this updated, and even worse about updated pictures! So here are both....brief as they are.
Hobbs has been doing well. He is still having dog issues, but slowly is improving. We keep pretty busy during the week going on a couple walks a day (this week it was only one a day because of the snow). Hobbs seems to have a really hard time with the salt on the sidewalks and after about 10 minutes is trying, unsuccessfully, to hold up all four paws at once. I finally bought some booties, but they wont stay on. I need a Boot Retention System like Emily's Maggie, just to go on normal walks! I can't wait for spring!
I am going to try to bring Hobbs to work with me again this next Thursday because I teach classes all day and he can stay in the ring with me. The reason he doesn't go now is that he has to stay in the back in a crate and will scream and scream until one of my supervisors asks me to take him home. I only work 5 hours in the evenings, and usually Robert is home after two hours so it works out great just to leave him home.
We have been going to lots of new places lately, including the inside of a car dealership repair shop (long story)! We have yet to go on a bus though so that maybe our next adventure. Also I have been intrigued by Emily who has been Geocaching so Hobbs and I may try it in the near future. Anyways here are some pictures.
I really don't like that I have to take flash pictures of him because he squints!

This kitten is SUPER attracted to both Hobbs and Robert and me. It can be doing anything short of feeding and see us and will scamper after us.....this really freaks Hobbs out.

Life is Wonderful
These past few weeks I have been absolutely loving my life! I know know if it is a steady job the people around me or just my husband, or all of those put together.
Lets see what has happened lately. Work has been going well, I now have four classes that I am teaching, with a smattering of very interesting dogs. I love when I get dog breeds in my classes that I haven't worked with before. It gives me the opportunity to expand my knowledge of dogs and their behavior. Oh, and the pay isn't half bad either. Lol
Other than that I have been busy with Hobbs and just being a wife! I have been pretty bad about regular cleaning though....I mean don't get me wrong I have a basically clean house, it just gets a huge cleaning once a week rather than steadily throughout the week. I was very good about cleaning in Bakersfield, but there is something about the cold here that takes all the motivation out of things. That is my goal for this next week is keep the house clean and avoid the major cleaning.
On a better note, I have lost two pounds towards my weight goal! I have been eating less and healthier so I hope it is going to stay off. I just need to find the motivation somewhere to exercise more.
I have been thinking about cutting and possibly dying my hair a darker brown. I have always wondered what I would look like as a real brunette rather than in between blond and brunette. I will post pictures when I finally get up the nerve to do it!
