Did you catch it?

I made a tiny, brief mention, in a recent post, of our plans for the future. Robert, Kaylee, and I are moving.....again.

You would think that we LOVE to move. Quite the opposite. This move is a step towards us being more financially secure and free. We need to get out of debt, and be able to save some money towards buying our own house. Then we can find a place to stay for good!

Robert's parents still own their old house in West Valley where Robert and I stayed when we first moved up from Bakersfield. Lol, I was going to link to a post about it, but it was one of the posts that never got recovered after my BIG blunder. Anyways, we are going to be renting it from them, and they were nice enough to give us a discount. We will be paying about half of what we pay now. Any extra will go towards paying off debts, but we will be spending the first month of extra money on stuff we have been going without....like more age-appropriate toys for Kaylee and vet visits for the dogs.

For some reason, it is really odd to me to be living in the house where he did a lot of his growing up. I don't know why it bothers me, but it does. It is a really nice house, neighborhood, yard, and everything, but something about living there is just odd to me. I am sure I will get over it quickly though.

I am excited to have more garden space than we have here. Hopefully I will have the time to plant some things. I am sure we can use an evening of Family Home Evening to get a lot of it done.

Another thing that will be really nice about being back in SLC is that Robert still works down there! He will have a 5-15 minute commute rather than a 45-60 minute one. It will also be nice to be closer to friends and both families.

Well Check

Kaylee's appointment went well this morning, and she is growing just fine. Her stats for the month are 17 lbs 4 oz, 29" tall, and her head is 17" around. The doctor said that her weight gain had slowed a little since the last appointment, but she said my drop in milk supply explained that.

My poor little girl had to get her last Hep B shot, which I wasn't expecting. It didn't seem to phase her too much though. She didn't even fully cry.

I am glad her doctor isn't worried that she is smaller than many 9 month olds. She said that she was probably just going to be a tall skinny little girl, and there is nothing wrong with that.

9 MONTHS OLD!!!

Yes, our little girl is 9 whole months old today. As sad as I am to see her leaving that little baby stage, I am so excited to see her growing up. I hear moms all the time saying that they dread the mobile stage. I am looking forward to it! I can't wait to chase her around the house with her giggling and laughing.

Some things she has learned this month:

• Rrrriiiippp - She has started to figure out the velcro on her diapers. Luckily, a majority of the diapers we have are snap closures, but I LOVE my bumGenius diapers. I am seriously considering having them converted to snaps. I don't think Robert would be too excited about that, but it would keep her in them.
• And....back down - Pulling up on things is her favorite activity these days, and she is falling less and less. Unfortunately, she hasn't learned HOW to fall, she has just learned to bend her knees to get back down to the floor. When she does fall, she still hits her head a lot. I am hoping that soon she learns to fall back on her bum.
• Round of Applause - Just last week she learned to clap her hands! She can't do it well enough to make the clap sound yet, but she is very eager to try.
• Formula is NOT poison - This one became a necessity this month. My supply was just not keeping up. It took a while to get her to drink it, but after two or three weeks of mixing it with my milk she will drink it by its self.
• Shake it Baby! - I am pretty sure Kaylee is learning to "dance" when she hears music or a beat of some sort. She basically just starts jumping and bouncing, but it is adorable all the same.
• Baabbadaadaa - She is FINALLY babbling! I was going to be worried if we had gotten to our 9 month appointment without her even trying to babble. It started with Baba, and now she kind of says dada, ga, and I think I heard a la once. Sometimes she says mmmaa, but it isn't anywhere close to mama yet. I have been trying to get her to say Dada, but it usually comes out backwards....Ada
• Craw....umm nope! - She has tried a couple times to take a few crawling steps, but she would rather just scoot. It is quicker for her to get places that way, so she doesn't see the need to crawl. When she is making small adjustments to her position though, she will get up on all fours and crawl. I guess it is easier to be more precise that way.
• Chomp Chomp - Miss Kaylee has two teeth! She got her first one on Sunday March 28th, and her second about a week after that. We are working already on teaching her that biting is not an acceptable activity, and she is learning fast. She did bite me while nursing for a while and that was a huge challenge....but I will leave that for another post.

I have been thinking more and more about how I want to teach Kaylee discipline, and for now, I am going to focus on teaching her self control. It is such an important part of being a responsible, mature person.

She has her well baby check up tomorrow, and we will get to find out if she has gained more weight since last month. I was a little worried about her weight, but I am sure it is nothing. She is still outgrowing her clothes so I know she is growing!

Let the weight loss begin!

Now that I am done with breastfeeding, I am really looking forward to losing weight! I know that most people can exercise while nursing, but for me, it would reduce my supply noticeably. I had the goal to breast feed until Kaylee was a year old, so I made sure that I wasn't getting too much exercise. That isn't so conducive to weight loss.

But as of tomorrow, I will be done totally with breastfeeding Kaylee. I am sad, but she just isn't getting enough food from me. I stopped nursing her during the day about 5 days ago, but have still been nursing at night so that I could make it to the 9 month mark. After tomorrow it will be over. The good thing so far is that I haven't been uncomfortable at all! That shows that I really wasn't making much milk anymore.

Anyways, back to the weight loss. I am determined to get back to my all-time adult low of 135. That is 43.6 pounds that I need to lose. Right now, that sounds like a TON. The plan is to get into jogging. First though, I need to walk, a lot to get back into a little better shape so that jogging doesn't completely exhaust me.

I would love to run a 5k or 10k with Robert sometime this year!

A while ago, while we were feeding Kaylee, We looked away and then back and she had grabbed a fist full of butter off the plate, and stuffed in in her mouth...

It was a sad day when she outgrew her baby tub. I loved that tub and it was VERY handy in being able to bathe her when she was little. I was nervous about putting her in the big tub, and delayed doing it for a while. I also wanted to be the first one bathing her in it so that she wouldn't have any fear reaction towards it.

She thought it was great to stand there and shriek at the top of her lungs. I am really glad this wasn't at 3 in the morning.

Sequencing, Setback, Success, and Sadness

Last night's class was wonderful! At the same time, it was really sad, because it was our second to last class. I have signed up for a class with the local (Ogden) club because it is less expensive, and I want to stay with some of the same people. It will be a different instructor, but with at least one of the people in this current class.

I am also trying to decide on a class to take down in SLC. I have found one that starts on May 8th, but I don't know if I want to be skipping every week that there is a trial because they are on Saturdays. Saturdays would be easier to have Robert watch Kaylee though.

Anyways, we started class with the teeter with Hobbs, and he did great. We had him do the whole thing three times, once with a tiny jump before it. He stuck his landings, and did his 2o2o 2 out of the 3 times.

There were a few other little sequences, but I kept it simple and short with Hobbs because it felt like it was a MILLION degrees.

We did a pretty simple sequence this week:

Yes, #2 is a TEETER!!

My instructor wanted me to have Hobbs go over the teeter once just to make sure he remembered what it was. It didn't go well. He flew right off the end. Then when I took him back and tried it again he wouldn't go on it. I didn't know what to do. We had him do "bang it" a few times which he did willingly, and then sent him over again. He did it very hesitantly, but he did it! Then I continued with the sequence from there. My head really wasn't in it after that, so we messed up a lot.

The second time we did it, Hobbs did really really well. We started from the beginning, he did the teeter, and everything perfectly except he missed the entrance to the weaves. But I think the problem was that he was just done for the day.

All in all, it was a good class. I was sad, and distracted. But I am so happy Hobbs and I did our very first sequence with a teeter in it!

Oh, OK....

I guess those were a little harder to decipher than I thought. So.....here is another clue.

He is such a trooper!

Today, I forgot it was Monday. I took the boys on their first hike of the year, and they both played hard for over an hour. When I got back from the hike I realized that we had Agility class in just over 2 hours! I could tell that Hobbs was already tired, so I wasn't going to expect too much from him during class.

He surprised me though, and stayed strong and happy through most of class.

We started out with the teeter. Two bang its, two medium tables (the first of which would have been a major fly off), two small tables, and three full teeters (the last of which he stuck his 2o2o!!). I am so proud of him, and it is great to see him recognizing that it IS a teeter.

Then we went to some wrap around jumps with the triple. Hobbs did great the first time I sent him over, so I had him do it on the other side and stopped. I wanted to save his energy for the sequence at the end.

Next was a distance challenge of jump, tunnel, weaves.

Hobbs got it perfect the first time! So we did it backwards and stopped.

Next was a discrimination with the A-frame

Once again, he did great so we stopped early

The first sequence of the evening was excellent. It was just challenging enough to make me really want to try it. We did it perfectly, except that I started to forget what came after the A frame. I recovered just in time to get the rest of it right. I was VERY excited that we got it right on the first try. We ran it again and it was even more smooth.

We changed the numbers up a little bit, and this time it was NOT good for us. I think we were both just done, but Hobbs was the one who sucked it up and kept trying. My brain just shut off and I couldn't concentrate and get the handling down for the last part of the sequence. Even when I got my handling wrong per the course, Hobbs did EXACTLY what I told him (even if it was accidental). We ran the whole thing once....failing miserably at the end. Then ran just the last part and kind of did better with some different handling.

I am very proud of him for doing so well at class after running his legs off on the mountain.

Time Flies

Kaylee is growing up so fast it is unbelievable. I am excited and sad all at the same time. I can't wait to see what new things she learns and does. This past couple weeks she has been pulling herself up on everything she can, and in turn falling and bumping her head a lot. That part isn't so fun, but hopefully soon she will learn to fall on her bum.

Today I heard her talking to herself in her room, and when I walked to the door, I saw this:

She was standing there looking at the books on the shelf and talking to herself.

I was really quiet as to not catch her attention at first

But when she noticed me watching, she was really happy

Then went back to what she was doing.

We are packing to move once again, and Kaylee loves to pull herself up on the boxes.....

sometimes she gets really into it lol.

Dear Mother Nature....

in case you haven't looked at a calendar lately, it is APRIL. I know that may be easily confused (or not) with December, but it isn't. This kind of weather is not acceptable for this time of year. I am sure you are sorry, but it would be nice to not have another episode of white nasty cold stuff snow until next winter.

Yes, it is April.....

It is a good thing that her snow suit still fits!

We went to bed last night with it blizzarding, and woke up to just over half a foot of snow. Yeah, snow, in APRIL!! I will be sending mother nature a little note.

After a week of wet weather, and being stuck inside the house, I decided that despite the snow we were going outside. Kaylee was really excited to try to walk around in the snow, and then was happy to sit for a while and watch the dogs play. They are loving the new snow, and don't seem to miss the grass and warmth at all....well maybe Patriot does.

Bubbles!!!

Kaylee got a bottle of bubbles in her Easter basket, and we were really excited to get it out to let her experience bubbles for the first time. It was pretty fun, and I think she enjoyed it.
