Week 16

Just to keep from being repetitive every week. Can I just say THIS IS GOING TOO FAST!!! Seriously, just put that at the first of every pregnancy post I do.

I have been feeling good this week! No nausea at all! I felt well enough to go walking with the dogs a couple days. I would have done it more but the weather here has been pretty cold and miserable most of the week. I am hoping for some better weather this next week.......but it is snowing outside right now, so I am not expecting it.

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 16 weeks
Size of baby: 4.5 inches long, or roughly the size of an Avacado....or Mango
Weight: 186.8
Total Weight Gain/Loss: -.6 lbs - Apparently I am losing rather than gaining, for now! My doctor said that looks perfect because I am a bit overweight to begin with.
Maternity Clothes: 1 pair of my regular pants fit (with the button undone)....and my one pair of fitting maternity pants got a hole in the crotch area.
Gender: Unknown
Movement: I am pretty sure now that I am feeling this little one jump around every so often. But it isn't more than once every few days.
Sleep: Better, but having crazy stressful dreams (that are NOT pregnancy related, but are for another story)
Symptoms: Still rare that any food sounds good.
Throw up tally: 2
What I miss: FOOD!! I miss wanting to eat!
Cravings: Still nothing...Though Robert says I have been eating a lot of eggs
Best Moment this week: Our baby doctor appointment this morning! We finally got to hear the heartbeat for a few seconds! I thought for a few minutes we would be getting another ultrasound because she couldn't find the heartbeat with the doppler. But then she did, and we got to hear it!
Looking Forward To: Our Gender ultrasound!!! We get to "hopefully" find out what this little one is on April 15th

Splish, Splash!

I don't have a lot of pictures of Kaylee in the bath tub, mostly because by that time of day I am exhausted, and ready to go to bed myself. She is pretty happy in the tub, and usually I have to drain the water to get her to want out.

She got some bubble bath for Christmas, but we haven't been using it because she was really scared of the bubbles. She didn't want them touching her at all, and would just want out of the bath. I tried them again a couple nights ago, and she was much more ok with them.

Ok enough for a bubble hat!

But she still wanted most of the bubbles to stay on the other side of the tub.

All of that on the walls is bath crayon and it comes right off!

She loved scooping up the bubbles with this boat

and eating them with her finger

Then she just started licking them right off the boat!

Hopefully now she will like having bubble baths every once in a while. She might be a girl after my own heart though.....I think the bubbles in bubble baths are kind of annoying and pointless.

4

I can't believe this little boy is 4 today. It makes me sad, and it makes me puppy hungry lol! But it will be a while before we have another furry little one in our house. Hobbs has had a wonderful day relaxing and we got to go to agility class tonight and he loved it, as usual.

This year I am hoping he has an easier time excepting the baby coming in September. Kaylee's first few weeks were really hard on him. I hope we get to play agility for well over half the year (there is a trial in August I want to enter lol).

Hobbs is such a good little boy. He has his "issues" (barking, Coprophagia, and the lack of a decent recall to name a few) but in every other way he is a perfect little gentleman.

Please Help!!

I don't usually do this kind of thing, but this is for one of my friends and she could REALLY use it! She is trying to win a contest on the DIY network for a yard makeover. They just bought a house and the front and back yard is nothing but goat-head stickers so her kids can't play outside without getting stickers everywhere.

Her yard is now in the top 3 so she could really win it. Please go here: http://my.diynetwork.com/amdl-2011/Southwest/Weeds-and-Thorns-Throughout/detail.esi?oid=23748024 and rate it with as many stars as possible, so 5.

This isn't something you have to do every day, because it wont let you vote more than once. So please, please do this! It is really quick and easy. If you feel like really getting involved, you can vote from different computers in your house, like one vote from your main computer and one from a laptop.

Please please go vote for my friend!! A million thank-you's from both me and her if you do.

Week 15!

Lol, apparently I missed week 14 so here is the pregnancy post for this week. I really can't believe I am already at week 15. Only 25 weeks until my due date......that scares the crap out of me!

I keep forgetting that I am pregnant. The only time I thought about it last week was when I threw up for the first time this pregnancy. That was a fun moment....let me tell you! It seems that this pregnancy is following along the pattern of Kaylee's where I didn't start actually throwing up until the first part of the second trimester.

My energy levels have been a little better this week, but I still randomly get exhausted. Luckily, the time change went relatively easy for Kaylee, but I am having a hard time going to bed earlier.....which makes for a tired momma.

Umm, not much else to report in the baby department. Our next appointment is next Friday, and I am hoping to get a babysitter this time because last time in the waiting room was a joke.

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 15 weeks
Size of baby: 4 inches long!!! I literally did a double take when I read that!
Weight: 188
Total Weight Gain/Loss: .6 lbs - I apparently lost a little bit since last time!
Maternity Clothes: 1 pair of my regular pants fit and one pair of maternity pants fit.....still wearing regular shirts so far.
Gender: Unknown
Movement: I think I have felt some little jumps and bumps, but not sure if it is phantom baby movement or actual baby movement.
Sleep: I have been sleeping better the last couple weeks, and I think I am going to get a prescription of the prenatals that I have been taking.
Symptoms: Still rare that any food sounds good. I bought a bunch of Girl Scout cookies (thinking of last time) and I think they may last until I am not pregnant anymore. They just don't taste good.
Throw up tally: 2
What I miss: Feeling good enough to run on the treadmill.
Cravings: Still nothing...
Best Moment this week: Honestly, I didn't really think about being pregnant for most of the week. So no favorite moments.

Chalk it Up!

Major picture overload comming up! Just Saying!

Kaylee love to play outside now that it is getting warmer. I am loving it, and watching her explore the back yard is one of my favorite things right now.

running to explore

Most of the time I make her wear shoes because there are big sticker plants throughout the lawn. We nicknamed these plants "owie plants" because that is what she said when she stepped on one with bare feet.

She loves to play with Hobbs' agility stuff, so much so that I tipped over the seesaw so she couldn't walk across it by herself. She knows the proper way to do the weave poles, and says weeeeeb when she goes through them. It is completely adorable!

On Tuesday we had a nice sunny day so we had a big outside day.

Looking for ducks on the canal

Putting on her hat

I brought out the sidewalk chalk and let her go at it. Besides trying to throw a piece over the back fence and into the canal to make a "plash" she had fun using it like it is intended.

I am in love with the chalk on her cheek!

it was a bad picture, but it says Kaylee

Kaylee pictures

I had fun drawing too!

Once the back yard got boring, we went out front to play. She is slowly learning that we have to stay in our own yard.
Sitting in the flower bed.....
big difference from last May!

Lol, maybe not so much

She loves to race back and forth on the porch

Such a happy little girl!

Being silly rolling around on the grass:

Watching the cat up the road

carefully touching the flowers.....rather than walking on them! We are still working on this rule.....

Amazingly cute baby feet and my big momma foot

Squinting in the sun

taking a moment to get "loves" from her momma
Trying to check the mail

We ended out the day with a walk to a playground where she played for almost an hour. I forgot to bring the camera with me though, so I will have to get a picture of that next time.

Soap Suds and Smelling Diapers

Wow, what a process!

First here is an example of a few of the inserts I was having problems with:

No, that is NOT a shadow on the bottom left one. That is one of about 8 that look like that.

The last resort:

Tools for extra water:

First was the wash cycle with no soap to wet the diapers down.

I was told that I could put 1 tsp of dawn in the machine and put a little on some of the worst inserts. So, thats just what I did!

I started the hot wash cycle with dawn, and added 4 gallons of extra hot water. That part wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be!

Then I looked down at the floor of the laundry room.........

and freaked out a little bit.

I looked inside the washer.......
and freaked out a little bit more.

I stopped the cycle and opened the machine...............
and laughed......a lot.

At first I had no idea how to get rid of all the suds. Then I got control of myself and just pulled out all the diapers and threw them into the sink to rinse. I scraped out most of the suds and threw them in the sink too. Then I started a cold wash with the machine empty to wash out the suds. Thank heavens it worked! If it hadn't I was out of ideas lol.

I lightly rinsed off all of the diapers and then put them back in the suds-less washer. I purposely left them VERY wet and still pretty soapy. I re-started the hot wash and added a couple extra gallons of water. This time it got very soapy, but didn't leak at all.

After that wash, the rinsing started. Really it was a bunch of hot and cold washes with no soap to get rid of all the soap. It had also been suggested that I try using some baking soda to get the stink out. So I put about 1/2 a cup in the first soap-less wash.

Eventually they started to look like this:

After all the suds were completely gone, I dried them. And then I smelled them. I actually had to put my nose next to them to be able to smell anything!! But they were still smelling a little musty so I decided I would do another dawn/baking soda wash the next day.

Two days, quite a few teaspoons of dawn dish soap, a cup of baking soda, and a LOT of washing/rinsing later and I have half of my diapers smelling MUCH better. Granted, they are not perfect. I am looking into what else I should do with them, but they are much better. Now I am gearing up to do the other half of the diapers.
