Fat to Fit

I feel like I am starting over in the fitness department. It is SO hard to believe that before I got pregnant with the twins I was running 3-4 miles 3 times a week! That may not seem like much to real runners, but it was a personal record for me and I was starting to feel like a runner. Now, I feel like a shapeless blob. Granted, I spend a good portion of my day sitting around feeding babies, but even that burns roughly 1000 calories per day. I just don't feel fit anymore. It's time for that to change.

One of my goals for the new year is to complete the Fit2Fat2Fit program. Well, not the Fit2Fat part, just the Fat2Fit part. Never hear of that? Go HERE  to read a little about it.....or not, whatever. My plan is to follow both the exercise and diet for the 6 months that are detailed on the site. The plan is to start this on Monday, but because everyone always says not to wait until Monday, I will be starting the exercises a little early. The first month is basically simple stretches and core work and a major diet overhaul. That is the part I am a little worried about, but I am going to try to be strong about it. I will probably not be super strict about the diet because I need at least an extra 1000 calories to maintain my milk supply, but I am planning for the extra calories to come from healthier food that they are now.

This is a 6 month program! If I start Monday, I will be finished on August 4th, just in time for the twins 1 year birthday. I would LOVE to be able to take a 1 year later picture. I have my before pictures (sort of) and I'm not ashamed to post it. My body did an AMAZING job carrying twins for 9 months. Plus the picture isn't super scandalous because I have all my clothes on. I will be taking more before pictures for starting point of the Fat2Fit  program. But for now, here are my postpartum pictures so far.

5 months!

These girls are 5 months old today!! Crazy, but awesome at the same time!
Alexis was not in the mood for pictures this time, and Courtney was cracking up at me the whole time. Pretty much the opposite of what it usually is like.

I think this was part of the reason Alexis didn’t want to take pictures. Courtney kept trying to chew on her.

Finally, after close to 100 shots, one of Alexis smiling….almost

The girls are growing up so fast I feel like I am missing it! Every day they change a little, and a little more of their personalities comes out. I am loving it. I absolutely adore having twins!
Alexis:.
This little lady weighed in at 15.2 lbs today!! She is deceptively small, but very heavy. Her weight even surprises me sometimes. This month she has been going through a stranger danger phase…..oh please let it be a phase! She absolutely flips out when other people hold her. Even with my mom who has been around her the most other than Robert and Me. She can’t calm down once she gets going and it is a bit heartbreaking. I am sure she will get over it soon so I’m trying not to let people make a big deal of it. She is still content to stay on her back or belly without attempting to roll yet. If Kaylee hadn’t been the same way I would probably worry. She is content to just spin in circles and scoot on her back sometimes. No signs of teeth yet, but her gums are changing so I am waiting for the actual teething to begin. She loves to watch me and Robert and then explodes into a grin when we look at her. She is very methodical when she is grabbing for toys and had even figured out how to pull her pacifier out and put it back in (most of the time). She is still the more patient of the two, but when she is done being patient she is DONE!

Courtney:
With almost 2 lbs difference between them, Courtney is 13.4 lbs today! Active, as usual, she is pretty good at rolling both from front to back and back to front. She hasn’t figured out how to roll to get across a room, but I think it’s only a matter of time. She is almost able to sit up by herself, and is only happy if she is either laying flat or sitting upright. She really detests leaning back in the bouncy seats. The jumperoo is her favorite toy in the house. She will often jump until she is tired and then continues to jump while whining to be taking out. It is nice that she has zero stranger danger and can be held by visitors and helpers. It takes some of the pressure off Alexis, which I this will help her. Courtney is getting more and more smiley even though her patience is still pretty short. She often has a hard time calming down after getting upset. If she were an only child I am sure it would be simple to keep her happy all the time, but having to wait her turn gets her upset very quickly. She wants something in her mouth at all times. Pacifier, fist (mine or hers), toys, paper, food, the floor, or blankets, it doesn’t matter as long as it can get into her mouth. I don’t know if she is teething or if its just a personality quirk, but it is pretty entertaining.

I love this one of her!

I was having so much fun taking her picture! She usually is pretty difficult to get a smiling picture of, but she thought I was hilarious this time.

4 Months

Once again, I can't believe how quickly these girls are growing!

Really? How did this:

Turn into this:
and this:

Alexis -
This little lady is such a character! She is very quick to smile once she knows someone, but is just as quick to scream in terror if she doesn't know the person holding her. She is still looking like she has redish hair....even her eyelashes have a red tint to them! I have a feeling she is going to be a talkative little girl. She is constantly "talking" to us, or pictures, or toys, or the cat. Haha! I can't wait to see more of her personality emerge.

Courtney -
She is such a opinionated baby! She knows what she wants and lets you know. One thing that she does is growl at us! Rather than coo and talk like most babies she grumbles and growls. I think it may be her posterior tongue tie interfering with the movement of her tongue. I took her in to get it clipped last week and I am very interested to see if she starts making other sounds soon. Even though she isn't as quick to smile at everyone, if she does smile at you she may get you caught up in a game of peek-a-boo.

They are still growing like little weeds. They had their 4 month well-check yesterday and the are exactly the same height 24 1/4". As for weight they are a bit different. Alexis is 13 lbs 5.5 oz and Courtney is 11 lbs 15.5 oz. I can't believe there is that much of a difference! Even their Dr was surprised that the difference was that much.
