We made the trip down to the cabin in Arizona for another amazing vacation. The best part this year? Taking Kaylee with us for the first time! She came with me and the rest of my family just after she turned 1, but it wasn’t any fun for her at all. This time is was old enough to enjoy it and even survive the 10+ hour drive there and back with not much fuss.
We stopped at a touristy cave along the way to let Kaylee get out and stretch.
At long last we arrived at the cabin
Once we were there Kaylee had a great time playing on the old piano
We had a wonderful time spending a whole day in Sedona, walking through the shops, and letting Kaylee enjoy being a tourist for the first time.

A wonderful shop owner let Kaylee pick from a huge bin of polished rocks, filling up a bag to take home for free.

Kaylee very much enjoyed trying on this hat….even though it was close to $200
The next morning was dedicated to hiking the West Fork Trail
We got to the slick rock and small pool, and spent an hour playing in the frigid cold water. Ok, it wasn’t THAT cold, but it was pretty rough.

As fun as the rock slide is, Kaylee was determined it wasn’t for her. She eventually went down to me a few times, but never into the pool below.
There is an amazing fishing place in the lower part of Oak Creek Canyon, and we decided to go. When we got there the owner was closing the gates and he said we had 15 minutes to fish. Luckly, the ponds are so full you could sweep with a net and catch a couple, so in those 15 minutes we got 4 beautiful fish…..3 of which were Kaylee’s, She was SO excited about her fish, and loved eating them.
She spent much of the “down time” at the cabin playing outside on the huge trees that have recently fallen down on the property.
Next year I’m hoping we can convince her cousin and family to come with us!
