4 years!

4 Years (and 6 days) ago Robert and I started our life together. It has been an interesting and wonderful 4 years. It seems like forever and not very long all at the same time.

Robert and I decided to spend a couple nights at the hotel we went to for our wedding night. My mom came to stay with Kaylee and they had a great time together. We went out for an amazing dinner on Wednesday night, spent some quality time together on Thursday, and went together to see our little one at the doctor on Friday. It was so nice to just spend time together.

As of today, Robert and I have been married for 3 amazing years. It has gone by so quickly and I have a hard time remembering what I did without this man in my life. We have been together for exactly 5 years to the day! That is a long time, and so much has happened in those years.

• We have moved a total of 4 times in three years.....that is a TON!
• We raised a guide dog puppy together and ended up with our little Hobbs puppy
• We moved from an apartment into our first house (rented)
• Survived our first pregnancy and birth together
• Bought a new car
• Watched the first 6 months of our daughter's life

I love being married! It has been some of the best years of my life to this point. This last one was definitely the best so far. I can't wait to see what this next year together has in store for us!

Viva Las Vegas

Robert and I decided to go to Las Vegas this year for our anniversary trip. It was quite the job for me to prepare to leave Kaylee for almost 3 days. That is about 80 oz of milk that needed to be stored for my mom to use. My mom was an angel and agreed to come up for the weekend to watch Kaylee. It was a much better plan than us sending her down to their house. Kaylee was able to be in her own place, with all of her normal stuff. One of the most important things for her was her crib. She just doesn't sleep as well in the pack n play. Still, I was beyond worried about leaving her for so long.

After writing down Kaylee's schedule in explicit detail, showing my mom the freezer full of Kaylee food, letting her put Kaylee down for a nap or two, and kissing our little angel goodbye, Robert and I left on Friday morning. It is a long 7-8 hour drive to Las Vegas, and I only managed to sleep for about 15 minutes of it. Boo!

We got a wonderful package deal at the Luxor casino with tickets to several different attractions there. Our room was nice, and the bed was great! King size beds are always a plus. The first thing we did was get our tickets to Criss Angel. I was excited for the show, but a little worried that it would be a darker "magic" show since some of the stuff I have seen of his is a little weird. Then we went to get food from the buffet, and ate enough dessert to last us the whole trip. It was SO good!

Oh, about half way to Vegas I realized that I had forgotten the camera, so this is going to be a picture-less post. Forgive me!

After dinner we went to watch Criss Angel's show, which was interesting. His stuff looks a lot more legitimate on his show on TV. There were a few pretty cool "disappearing" acts, but the rest was the usual stuff. The little helper magicians on stage with him were hilarious though!

We walked from casino to casino and down the strip a ways late at night. It was wonderful to just spend time together, and get away from the grind of being parents to a new baby. By the time we got back to our room it was almost 2 am Nevada time, which was 3 am back home. Ugh, so much for catching up on sleep.

I was expecting to sleep in on Saturday, but I woke up at 8:30 after only 6.5 hours of sleep. We ate a big brunch and went into the casino to gamble with some of he $25 we set aside. I didn't want to be tempted to spend all our money, so we agreed that once that 25 was gone it was over. We lost some, won some, and ended up walking back to the room with about $40. I didn't like gambling as much as I thought I would. The only thing I really liked was putting money on the horse races. I only bet on one, but the horse let me down so I didn't try again. It was really fun though! Roulette was the only game on the floor that I really understood and could strategize, craps was WAY too complicated for my little brain.

We went to the Body World exhibit, which was smaller than the one in SLC, but it was still amazing, and had some new things in it. We also went to the Titanic exhibit. That was really cool! They gave everyone a card detailing someone who was on the ship. Then at the end you could look up your person's name on a wall that named the survivors and people who perished. Robert ended up dying with all but one of his family, and I lived along with my husband and servant. There were a bunch of artifacts that had been brought up from the bottom of the ocean. They were amazing!

Saturday night, after dinner, we had planned to go to one of the dance clubs at the hotel, but neither of us really wanted to go and be around everyone drinking and smoking. We are still tempted by those things every single day without hanging out in the middle of it all. We instead decided to look up a casino that had less expensive roulette tables. The ones we had been playing on were $15 minimum bids, and we eventually found out that Circus Circus had tables with $4 minimum bids. We took our lives in our hands and drove down the strip to the older part of town.

This is where the best part of the day happened! We brought all $40 we had and sat down at the first $4 roulette table we came to. After only about 5 minutes of playing, we hit a number. It was a last minute gut decision on Robert's part to put $2 on Red16 and it paid out at $70! Great! We had won back more than double our starting money. I pocketed what we had first invested and we decided to play with the winnings. About 5 minutes later we hit Red16 again, this time with $4 on it, paying out at $140! In the half hour we sat at that table we won on Red16 4 times!! That is pretty unheard of, especially sense they changed dealers and balls while we sat there. We won on other numbers as well, and soon had $415 to our name!

We decided to stop while we were ahead and cashed in our chips....all but the last $15. We went to a different table to see if our number was still lucky.....it wasn't. After a few minutes we decided to go home and call it a night. We walked past our old table to see if Red16 had hit again since we left.....it hadn't. Just for the fun of it, we decided to see if we were just that lucky. We sat down with our last $10 and played for a minute. Just that quickly we won again on Red16 with $5 whole dollars riding on it. In that same roll we won an additional $20 on something else, making our winnings for that round $195, bringing our total winnings for the evening to $595......on one number!

We stopped and went back to the hotel with that final win. We didn't want to push our luck any more than we already had. It was a wonderfully lucky evening and a great end to our trip. The next morning we headed home to our little daughter. Refreshed as parents and ready for the next year as a couple.

Robert and I went on vacation this weekend to celebrate our 2nd anniversary. It was such a great weekend, and the perfect last anniversary before the baby comes.

We had talked about going away somewhere like Washington D.C. or New York City, but decided it was going to be better to save the money for a big vacation later. So we went down to Manti Utah to my Grandmother's Inn and Spa. We went there for two nights on our honeymoon which was wonderful so we decided to go back. It is called Yardley Inn & Spa in case anyone feels the need to get away! It is just a little place with three suites and two smaller rooms. Grandma offers a candlelight dinner as well as a bunch of Spa treatments.

Robert and I got there on Sunday evening after dropping the dogs off at their puppy sitter's houses. We watched older movies (Forever Young and My Fair Lady) and ate snacks until we fell asleep. We stayed in the "Moonlight and Roses" suite which I have never stayed in before. Here are some pictures:

On Monday we had a wonderful breakfast and then had a lazy morning until we went into Ephraim for some lunch. I went to Snow College there and wanted to drive around the campus just for memory's sake. We ate at a little Malt Shop, and then bought some snacks for the movie we planned to see that night. Back at the Inn I took a nap until we got an amazing couple's massage (one of the best massages of my life!) and then went to our candlelight dinner. Robert had steak and I had Chicken Cordon Bleu. We both had wonderful salad, garlic mashed potatoes, and steamed veggies. For dessert we had chocolate mousse which was WAY too rich for my taste, but Robert liked it. Monday night we stayed in the "Lavender and Lace" room, and I think it is my favorite room....but there is still one I haven't stayed in. Pictures:

That night we went to see "He's Just Not That Into You" which was a great movie!! It was very funny and not quite as vulgar as the book was at some times. If you have the opportunity to go see the movie you should! I really liked it.

We stayed up a little longer after we got home from the movie, and then slept in this morning before we had another very yummy breakfast. I was really sad to leave, but we had to get back to real life. Both our puppies were very glad to get back home, especially Hobbs. The poor boy just doesn't do well at other people's houses.

I can't believe we have been married for two years!! It just doesn't seem that long, and at the same time it seems like we have been together forever. This year will be a big one for us, and for the rest of my family.
